Sterilization (or sterilisation, see spelling differences) refers to any process that effectively kills or eliminates transmissible agents (such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, spore forms, etc.) from a surface, equipment, article of food or medication, or biological culture medium. Sterilization does not, however, remove prions. Sterilization can be achieved through application of heat, chemicals, irradiation, high pressure or filtration.

Applications

Foods

The first application of sterilization by Nicolas Appert was thorough cooking to affect the partial heat sterilization of foods and water. Cultures that practice heat sterilization of food and water have longer life expectancy and lower rates of disability. Canning of foods by heat sterilization was an extension of the same principle. Ingestion of contaminated food and water remains a leading cause of illness and death in the developing world, particularly for children.

Ethylene oxide gas sterilization- alcohol- 95% and 70%- yes, i know what alcohol is, but i need the specific definition for both percentages. i need to define the following... A. Ethylene Oxide (EO) gas is a satisfactory method of sterilizing plastic, rubber and many other items, which will not withstand steam sterilization. Source is the second eo gas link. (First link jic.) Alcohol (95%) is a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water. It contains not less than 92.0% w/w and not more than 92.7 w/w ethyl alcohol, corresponding to not less than 94.7% v/v and not more than 95.2% v/v at 15.56 C. I searched for the Alcohol 70% but could only find references to Rubbing Alcohol or "Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol 70%". Sorry I couldnt be more help there.

Creationists?
Q. Scietists have said we have never written a peer reviewed paper, or been in a sciene journal... That's because the world won't let us. *Question* Does this make you feel all warm and cozy inside? Om, I know what you are saying but that was not the point, the point was that we are not all dumb as you think we are. This is not the complete list.

A. Yes,and it is true that they will never get airtime in the mainstream media.Nor will they write textbooks. But then the truth has always been a precious commodity to be sought out by truthseekers. It can't be found in governmental schools or the press.
