Can I use saline solution for my contacts?
Q. Recently, I have found Opti-fresh and Renu multi-purpose contact solution cleaners to be quite expensive. So I looked for an alternative solution. I went to my Rite-Aid and bought a Rite-Aid Saline Solution bottle also located at the eye-contacts section and the Saline Solution states the following: - For use with daily and extended wear soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses. - For rinsing and storing soft contact lenses - Thermal Disinfection - Thimerosal Free formula Ingredients on the back: A sterile isotonic, buffered solution that contains boric acid, sodium borate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, preserved with polyaminopropyl biguanide (0.0003%) and edetate disodium (0.025%).. A. It is the generic and it's the same thing as the name brand stuff.
